Viareggio Carnival 2020: Masked courses.

From 1 February 2020 the appointments for the great Masked Courses on the Seaside roads of the Carnival of Viareggio will start. Throughout February Viareggio becomes the capital of fun with masked parades, giant papier-mâché floats, fireworks, night parties and all kinds of events.

There will be 6 Masked Courses in 2020: it will start on Saturday 1 February with the inaugural ceremony, then they will return on Sunday 9, Saturday 15, Thursday 20, Sunday 23 and Tuesday 25 February for the final with fireworks and award ceremony for the winners.

The night parade on Thursday 20 February is new for this year to celebrate Fat Thursday.

During the courses, in addition to the masks, the famous and characteristic large papier-mâché floats will be paraded along the seaside avenues, and fireworks for the most important ceremonies.

This year there will be a new addition to the soundtrack of the Viareggio Carnival. Written by Tiziano Jannacci and composed by Salvatore di Martino, the song ironically addresses the theme of generations. The song will be broadcast by Radio Bruno starting one week before the start of the event.
