Volterra Tour
During the Volterra Tour you will discover the city of ‘wind and stone’, this is how the famous Italian poet Gabriele D’Annunzio defined it; but it is also the city of pure alabaster and the best preserved Etruscan site. The 2 to 3 hour historical guided tour will take you around one of the most ancient villages in Tuscany, discovering all of its beauties; from its roman theater, the first ever arch constructed in Italy, to its alabaster production.
Then, you will have time to enjoy the village on your own, by browsing through it’s lovely little shops, where you’ll be able to find leather goods, ceramics and most of all alabaster; and for those of you who are more daring, why not visit the scariest Torture Museum in Tuscany.
If you are interested in knowing more about the mysterious and ancient Etruscans, there is also one of the best museums in the Region dedicated to Etruscan artifacts and findings. We will have lunch in the village and then slowly make our way back to Lucca, through some of the most beautiful sceneries.
